Dry lubrication was shown to provide the fastest industrial water efficiency improvements and return on investment (ROI) by the 2030 Water Resources Group. (view report)

The 2030 Water Resources Group was formed in 2008 to contribute new insights to the increasingly critical issue of water resource scarcity. The group aims to create an integrated fact base on the potential technical levers and costs for reducing water scarcity, with the ultimate goal of advancing solutions-driven dialogue among stakeholders.

The Group consists of a range of organisations from the private and social sectors, which provided the institutional collaboration and counsel needed to tackle this complex topic.

DRY LUBE NEWS

Customers improve operations with Dry Lube

Dry Lube’s customers continue to work in a safer and more hygienic environment whilst making more substantial water savings every day. Customers such as Coca-Cola Enterprises, CCHBC Romania and MillerCoors have saved hundreds of millions of gallons of water by choosing Dry Lube Ltd.

MillerCoors' brewery in Virginia recently celebrated saving over 15 million gallons of water since installing our system in 2007. Photographed receiving a commemorative plaque from Dry Lube's Technical Director Eddie Docherty is Amy Michtich (Vice President & Plant Manager), Johnny Breeden (Bottle 4 Label Operator), Bobby Leach (Bottle 4 Filler Operator), Jo-Ann Carle (Health, Safety, & Environmental Manager), Tony Cofield (Training Specialist) and Wayne Cripe (Purchasing Manager).

Another recent success at the MillerCoors Shenandoah brewery was an immediate 80% reduction in can wastage following the installation of a Dry Lube system.

Dry Lube has recently been selected by a number of companies to provide its service including:

  • UK’s leading independent drinks company, Halewood International whose brands include Lambrini sparkling wine and Crabbies ginger wine, are the first company in the UK to successfully convert all their glass bottles on stainless steel conveyor lines to dry lubrication. Gary Coles, Halewood International’s Engineering Manager said; “With the aid of Dry Lube Ltd we have been able to establish a cleaner, safer and greener method of lubrication for our bottling lines. We have been impressed by the installation of the system and the positive impact it has already had on our business."
  • Dairy Crest in Liverpool, UK, successfully converted two returnable glass bottle lines to Dry Lube, saving money and helping to meet Dairy Crest’s Environmental targets.
  • At a major brewery in Texas, Dry Lube demonstrated its ability to remove the need for water-based lubricants on inverted can lines; all safety and taste tests were successful.

During 2009, over 50% of our new installations were on returnable glass bottles; one-way glass bottles on stainless steel conveyors; and inverted can lines. This demonstrated the trust our customers place in the very specific skills and solutions which Dry Lube engineers bring to these demanding environments.

As the issue of water savings, power savings and safety become even more important to our customers and the environment, we’ve seen demand for our services increase and significant new installations have already begun this year. They include:

  • Tennent Caledonian Brewery in Glasgow have installed Dry Lube on the largest can line in Europe.
  • Coca-Cola Wakefield, the largest carbonated soft drinks site in Europe, have announced a £13m investment in a new can line and have chosen our Dry Lube system.

We are currently working with companies in South America, South Africa, and across Europe, who are looking to switch their wet lube systems to our water free, energy saving dry lubrication technology.

We continue to develop our business in North America where we are looking to establish a company presence later this year to serve our growing customer base, more news on that exciting development in the next issue.
