Occupational health – standards of performance The Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM) has published standards of performance for occupational health services which will form the basis of a voluntary accreditation system to be developed over the next 12 months. The FOM says that the system will provide a standard against which occupational health providers can benchmark their services and will include consideration of information governance, facilities and equipment, relationships with workers and relationships with purchasers. Adherence to the standard will be voluntary but the FOM hopes that it will result in an increase in standards of practice across the sector and enable good work being done by OH services to be identified and for purchasers to differentiate between services. The standards are available to view from http://www.facoccmed.ac.uk/library/docs/standardsjan2010.pdf
